Beginner Self Rescue

Learn the basic skills of what to do when things are not going to plan.

This course offers participants the opportunity to learn the techniques needed in case things go wrong whilst rock climbing on a single pitch crag. This course can be combined with the 1 day advanced self rescue course as a progression for a 2 day course.

This ClimbOut course is for independent outdoor climbers who want to take their climbing skills further. You should be a competent climber and belayer. You will learn to tie off a belay plate properly, ascend a rope and abseil using a prusik for back-up and look at hoists if time allows. It is ideal for people who want to learn what to do in an emergency or with a stuck climber.

Minimum Age: 18

Pre-requisite experience: To register for this course you should be an independent climber with good belaying technique. This workshop is aimed at people who have led climbs outdoors or are rigging their own top ropes for use outdoors.

Required equipment: Please bring your harness, helmet, rock shoes and belay plate. Please bring all other climbing equipment you have such as a climbing rack (trad), rope, slings, carabiners and quickdraws. Please also bring two prusik loops.
