Accessibility at the Festival

ClimbOut is held at Thornbridge Outdoor Centre. Here’s some information about accessibility at the site.

Accommodation buildings

2 of the 3 accommodation buildings are wheelchair accessible.

Both of these rooms…

  • Include accessible facilities such as a wet room and accessible bathrooms.
  • Ground level throughout making both buildings suitable for wheelchair users and those with mobility difficulties.

Common spaces

  • The majority of common spaces are wheelchair accessible.
  • There are also the outdoor grounds, where (weather dependent) we will host talks, brand partners will have their stalls etc. this would be on a grass lawn which we are planning to make wheelchair accessible, if this is something you need please let us know in the booking form.

Courses

We want to make ClimbOut courses as accessible as possible, if you have any questions about any of the courses, please get in touch to discuss any adjustments that may be needed.

The booking form will also have sections to capture this information and give you the option for you to describe in as much detail as you want how we can best support you.

We have teamed up with Anyone Can who will attend to support our instructor team with accessibility requests. Some of the kit they can bring is:

  • Alternative harness
  • Effort reducing rigs
  • Side support
  • Portable rail supported toilet and freestanding cube tent
  • 8ft ramp to help accessing some crags

Climbing Aids

  • If you have a disability and require a non-climbing aid to come with you, your aid will be able to attend the festival for free.

Other Requirements & Booking

The booking form will capture the majority of accessibility information. You will be able to…

  • Request accessible accommodation: e.g. accessible step-free accommodation, and/or request a lower bunk bed.
  • Reasonable adjustments, such as a prayer room, requesting a BSL interpreter, letting your instructor know you are neurodivergent or providing storage space for a wheelchair?
