Marcus Cross (he/him)

Hi! I’m Marcus, a half-Korean climber who grew up far from the beautiful mountains of Korea in the terribly flat West Midlands, and I was 34 before I discovered rock climbing! I’m part of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion team and I’m excited to be instructing at ClimbOut again in 2026.

I’ve been climbing for 9 years and instructing for 3 of them. I love bouldering, sport and trad, but find nothing beats leading an adventurous multi-pitch trad route up a mountain or sea cliff.

I’m an active member of queer climbing clubs NotSoTrad and Out on Rock, both of which have great outdoor meet programmes throughout the year.

I love the welcoming, sharing and supportive communities around climbing, seeing new people come into the sport, gain confidence, and just have fun, so it’s a privilege to be a part of the ClimbOut team helping make this happen for queer climbers in the UK!
