About Climbout

Outdoor Sport Climbing at ClimbOut

Our goal is to establish the UK’s first Queer Outdoor Climbing festival. Combining trad climbing, sport climbing, and bouldering with queer joy outdoors, we want to celebrate LGBTQ+ climbers and create a community centred on the intersection between queer joy and climbing.

Despite an increase in queer presence and representation in indoor climbing in recent years, outdoor climbing is still lagging.

We want to increase the visibility of queer outdoor climbers, by bringing together a diversity of LGBTQ+ identities and having a strong presence in the crags of the Peak District. Additionally, we aim to showcase some of the high-profile climbing members of our community.

We want to inspire more queer folk to get into outdoor climbing, providing them with equipment, training, and visible role models, thereby reducing some of the barriers present in accessing outdoor climbing.

We want to create an inclusive space for everyone, from experienced climbers to people who have never climbed before. This space is built with intersectionality in mind, we wish to make space for the most marginalised groups within our community.
