+ Courses

- The Festival Pass does not include any climbing instruction – this should be booked by independent climbers only.
- 1 or 2 day courses. Some courses span both days, and some are just on the Saturday or the Sunday.
- Course Tickets are priced individually. Unlike our sister festival ClimbOut (two-tiered system for course prices), at ClimbOot there are individual prices & tickets for each course.
- It is possible to book onto two single-day courses. Please make sure they are on different days if you do this (for example, you could book onto Self-Rescue on day 1 and onto Discover Scrambling on day 2).
- As stated above, most meals are included. There are no communal cooking facilities, however if you would like to cook yourself it will have to be in the camping area with a gas cooker only (no fires or BBQs in the cairngorms due to wildfire risk).

ClimbOot is run by volunteers and funded by a combination of Partner donations and ticket sales. Thanks to the generosity of our Partners and those who book at the Pay it forward rate, we are able to subsidise ticket prices for those who are less able to afford them.
One of ClimbOot’s core values is Accessibility and we are committed to keeping ticket prices affordable so climbers from all socioeconomic backgrounds can attend. To champion this, we have introduced tiered ticketing and a Pay it forward pricing model (which adds £25 to your booking).
Additionally there is the option to add a gift to your booking, where you can select the specific amount you would like to donate. The amounts raised through this will be ring-fenced to improve access to ClimbOot events and activities.
Which rate should I choose?
Please choose the rate that is comfortable for your household and will not hinder your access to basic necessities such as food, housing, or paying your bills.
ClimbOot is a volunteer-run not-for-profit festival and all ticket sales go directly into the festival programme or towards supporting ClimbOot’s values e.g. offering concession prices, bursaries, and other scholarships.
Below is some guidance to help you decide which ticket tier is right for you.
Bursary Ticket
Bursary tickets are for low-income LGBTQ+ individuals.
Bursary spaces are allocated by lottery after application. See bursary page for detailed eligibility criteria and apply.
Concession
Subsidised.
Choose this if you can’t afford the standard rate and would struggle to attend otherwise.
Able to cover basic necessities, but with limited financial flexibility.
STANDARD
Partially subsidised.
Choose this if you can afford this level but would struggle to afford the full Pay it Forward rate.
Able to afford or save up for occasional weekend trips and the associated costs (transport, gear, etc.)
Pay It Forward
Full rate.
Choose this if you can afford to pay the full cost of your ticket and pay it forward to the community.
This means that you are helping others attend who might not otherwise be able to.
Can afford regular weekend trips and the associated costs (transport, gear, etc.)
*Please also consider that income is not the same as wealth. Income is the amount of money you make. Wealth is passed down from generation to generation and usually takes the form of inheritances, land ownership, and/or earning power. We ask that you take into account not only your income but also your wealth when choosing your price point within our sliding scale.
We would like to credit Flash Foxy and Wanderers of Colour for the inspiration for this pricing structure and descriptions.
