Introduction to Rock Climbing

This two-day course is our most beginner-friendly instructional climbing course and a first step into outdoor rock climbing. Experience outdoor rock climbing with the safety of a Bottom-Rope, learning some new skills that can start you on your outdoor climbing journey. This course is ideal for members who have never climbed before or done a little climbing indoors but would like to try climbing on real rock.

The course will cover:

  • Fitting harness and helmet
  • Tying into the rope
  • Belaying from below (bottom-roping) and lowering
  • Abseiling
  • Crag etiquette and use of guidebooks
  • Movement coaching on real rock

Duration: 2 days (Saturday 12th September and Sunday 13th September)

Ratio: 1:6

Minimum Age: 14 (Under 18s must be supervised by an adult who is also a participant on this course).

Pre-requisite experience: There is no prerequisite experience required for this course. We will start with the basics. 

Required equipment: If you have any other climbing equipment such as rock shoes, a helmet, harness and belay plate please bring them along with you.
