I’m 27 years old, originally from Edinburgh but moved to Sheffield in early 2018 to develop my coaching career and work with gb climbing junior team as a coach. I worked locally at the climbing works where I further developed their “WAD Squad”, set up my coaching company with my business partner and then progressed to coaching both junior and senior GB teams.
In 2021, while on my first Senior international, I came out as Pansexual when it became apparent that as transparent as I am with my coaching, I wasn’t being truly honest about who I was for fear of rejection, and that’s not how I wanted any younger athletes to feel if they were ever in the same situation. I received overwhelming acceptance, and for the first time in my 13 years of climbing, I felt I found my community when this other side of me felt such pride and wanted everyone to know. I’m now a full-time GB Coach supporting athletes in their efforts to qualify for the Olympics, having already been lucky enough to support Toby at least part of the way, and I hope to get even more through this summer.
